Sustainabilty of Organic Bamboo Fibre

Bamboo fabric is a great alternative to both conventional grown cotton and sythnthetic fibres due to it’s sustainability. It is a highly sustainable material for a number of reasons.

  • It is grown without any assistance from man including the use of pesticides, fertilisers or chemicals.
  • It does not require irrigation and the addition of lots of water as cotton cultivation does.
  • The yeild of bamboo per acre of land is 10 times more than cotton
  • Bamboo is quickly and easily grown over large areas of land helping to stabilise land and preventing soil erosion.
  • Bamboo is but rather than being up rooted, this also helps to prevent soil erosion.
  • Bamboo is completely biodegradable
  • Bamboo can be used to cultivate areas that cannot be used for other types of crops such as hill sides.

Not only does the cultivation of bamboo have very few if any environmental impacts, it has a postive and stabilising effect on the land where it is grown. Making it a sustainable source of income in the communities in which it is grown.
