Organic bamboo - is it chemical free?

But how can you be sure that clothing made from organic bamboo is chemical free? Here we outline a number of certifications that ensure that organic bamboo clothing is safe and chemical free.
Oeko-Tex 100 Certification - this will ensure that tested for any chemicals that may be harmful to a persons health and has been found to contain no trace chemicals that pose any health threat whatsoever. This certification can also cover the dying and printing on clothing.
International organic standards - both OCIA (Organic Crop Improvement Association) and NOP (National Organic Program) are well established and recognised standards. They ensure that each bamboo stalk is of 100% natural growth and without any chemical pesticides.
Cotton - Sometimes bamboo is blended with cotton. Usually the cotton is organic and certified by either SKAL or GOTS (Global Organic Textiles Standard) or both. Both SKAL and GOTS are internationally recognised organic standards which ensure that the cotton has been grown without the use of chemicals.
