Fairtrade Fortnight 2010
This year Fairtrade fortnight is from 22nd February to 7th March. The campaign run by the Fairtrade Foundation aims to get people to swap their usual stuff for Fairtrade. In total they hope to achieve one million and one swaps. So far there have been 4,548 swaps registered.
Swapping to Fairtrade products helps to make the world a fairer place and help to support farmers in the developing world. A third of all humans survive on less than $2 per day and unless trade rules are made fairer, they will be kept in poverty.
There are some very simple swaps that you can make for example switching to Fairtrade Tea (as in the above video). There are all sorts of Fairtrade events going on around the country. There are now so many Fairtrade products readily available including food, flowers, clothes, beauty products and alcoholic drinks, it is easy to find something to swap to and make a difference.
